2^2_now_2^2

Note: Due to formatting, the title here is not correct (though, what is?). This poem is called 22_now_22. Thank you for your understanding.

Full disclosure and credit due, I’ve been listening to the album 22, A Million by Bon Iver lately, starting yesterday 2/22/2021, at the suggestion of my dear friend Blackbird, and it has been a significant inspiration. Much love to both of you.

22_now_22 – Recorded 2/23/2021 – Auroraboros – Objects, and the Distance Between Them

now
see me
shadowed stranger
dangerous design
drawn close
dark these
three sides
two hearts
one mind
inside

before we know
there is no
time

red and
blue lights
flashing
passing
by

didn’t think it would go
so…

tired, twitching
blinking eye
skin cracked and
dry
disease all in my teeth
falling in my
dreams

now is all we have

only this
now and what we can
what we get
we grasp

please don’t
let me go
please don’t
let me go
please don’t
let me go

I cannot stand to see you go
don’t want you or I
to die
all alone
even though I know
it must be so

I only want
you
to know that you are
here
and always will be

now

watch me
turn your face to see
don’t tell me
can’t be done
thumb on the sun
moon in my
eye
watch me
walk right through
to you
on the other side
fire be
mine
walk beside
no longer black or white
we are all set to
die
but I will
shine before I do
a light
into every life
I can find

the things we left
behind
they are
behind
we move
to
find
something new

is it over
it’s been “soon”
it is over
fever
broke
tomorrow somehow
can I give it to you
now

just know
though
it will come again
just like it did
we cannot forget
just like I will never forget
you
are my only true heart
apart
not to be
once it is all
through
we can start
again
not then
now
