The waves are crashing down once more
On the shores of perception
Eroding any semblance of certainty
Drawing in the doubts
Poisoning the waters even further
As negativity spreads like a cloud of sediment
Leaving only darkness in its wake
Casting shadows down into the deepest depths
Leaving the world above excluded
And just as much alone
But the sun still shines down
And the silver light of the moon is reflected while the sun is away
Casting off of the thick black surface
Waiting
For the right moment
When a gap will present itself
And the ray’s might break through
Illuminating the depths
And bringing with them hope
A reminder
That the world waits
Patiently
Above.
Lovely poem my friend.

Even in darkness hope prevails. I love this.

Exactly; hope is strong, and cannot be defeated as easily as we might presume. There is always hope, even in the darkest moments… We just need to remember that it is so.

I love this as even when submerged a glimmer of light can make its way to us at the bottom of a metaphorical ocean. ❤

I am so glad that you enjoyed this piece. The light is powerful and unrelenting. No matter how dark it gets, there is always a chance for the light to break through eventually… We just must be patient, and hold out hope. 🙂

That is so true. I remember in a tale about Faust Robert Johnson said its after the crucifixion that we hear the Easter Music blaze forth. I think that is what the dark nigh is about. We just have to hold out through it and feel all we can until the light breaks through at a new dawn. And this happens many times for some of us. Much love to you.

That is a very appropriate reference; sometimes our the darkest periods of our lives are merely preludes to peace. That doesn’t “justify” them or make them better/right, but it can make them more manageable. It can remind us that we exist beyond them, that we are more than what we feel during them. Much love back just the same. 🙂

Yes there are depths to us or a wholeness that lives beyond all these feelings. Its hard to articulate but you make brilliant attempts with your poetry.
