The moon is melting again
See it
Dripping through the tops of the trees
Cascading down through the branches
Into silver pools
Sinking even further
Beneath the soil
And into the roots themselves
So that soon
All will be luminescent
Glowing
With the captive light of the daytime sun
But without the crescent on high
The sky is dark
Save for the distant stars
Though they are only remnants still
And we are here so far beneath them
Seeing now only what was
Surrounded by the light of our own past
Absent any semblance of now
Waiting only for the future to shine through
Love this free verse poem! It’s abstract yet so vividly described 🙂
