There is
An empty sort of calm
That comes on days such as this
An awareness
That transcends expectations
While at the very same time
Reaffirming each of them
One by one
As we age
We learn to be alone
To hold our own
All the while still clinging
To that primal urge
To be a part of something more than ourselves
To be accepted and to show acceptance to others
We have built bonds now
With that which we cherish
Hoping that by holding close to our bodies
That which we wish to be close to our hearts
It might be so
Now though
I am learning once more
That nothing is more valuable
Than nothing
And the ability to find meaning and value therein
To let go
And in doing so
Grasp what lies between
To hear music in the silence of an empty room
To see shapes and forms in the darkness of a starless night
To dig deep into the dark earth with open palms and pull out a bit of myself
Now I have stayed too long
Left too many traces
It is time
To return
To be moving on;
Until next time
Fabulous! Very very good! xo

Thank you, Karen. It is so good to hear from you. I have been busy and just out of sorts lately, and am feeling a bit disconnected from everyone. I haven’t really been able to keep up with my feed, and I miss reading what everyone has to say. I am hoping to do a bit of catch up today though. 🙂

I’m in exactly the same place, we had a week away then last week I felt overwhelmed by the boys and generally unsettled. I seem to have a huge catch up every week to 10 days at the moment!

The empty sort of calm really gives us a lot of thoughts huh? I really liked how you analysed it here! Great work!

Yes, it certainly does. It is a melancholic sort of thinking – clear and focused, but often surrounded by an emotional haze… Thank you for reading and commenting.

I am actually doing quite well. Writing can be so therapeutic and cathartic… I am so glad to have found a consistent outlet for my thoughts here. It really does help. As does the support of friends like you… Thank you.

So glad to know you are doing well. Since our words come from within they oft reflect the turmoil we are going through at that particular time.
You are absolutely right, writing is therapeutic and cathartic.
You are kindly welcome.
