I was born in the ocean
Baby
Dripping wet
Every inch
Swam with fishes
Sharks with teeth
Felt the cool water
Touched the reef
I have wandered the desert
Child
Sand from sea
Waking sleep
Lucid dreams
40 days
Underneath
Sun and heat
I have felt the flames lick
Son
At my feet
As father set fire to sand
Watched it turn clear beneath
Felt legs go weak
Dropped down
To my knees
I have climbed the mountains
Brother
Walked the peaks
Amongst the trees
Heard them speak
Ancient verses
Broken
Incomplete
Now I watch with eyes wide
Man
Standing somewhere
In-between
Finally seeing clearly
And being seen
Speaking my truth
And listening
Great poem my friend, it reminds me of another that I can’t put my finger on right now. ❤️✌️

I love that last stanza. What a victorious ending, and so very true.

Thank you! It is a hopeful ending to the poem, but of course, not the ending in a true sense. There is so much more to come.

A journey taken
On a path
Not yet fully traversed
So much still
To discover

Thank you! Imagination is, of course, just a different perspective of what we perceive. Shaped as such and shaping just the same.

I love the use of the elements here. Nature is so beautiful and you’ve employed them wonderfully. I’ve recently developed a passion for learning about sharks, so I particularly enjoyed that line! 😉

Thank you! I so thoroughly love nature and all the pieces of it that compose my life. I have always had a love of sealife… My childhood dream was to become a marine biologist when I grew up – maybe some day.

Ah mine’s the same! I’ve always wanted to be a marine biologist, and I intend to do a course this summer! It’s great to find something else that we have in common.

That is really quite inspiring – I look forward to hearing how that course goes. I am really happy that you are pursuing your dreams! That is truly inspiring.
