Sara, No “H”

Oh to be where she stands
Lies late at night
So close to
You

These relationships we build
In the end
Mean less
Even still
Than the possibilities they uncover
Deer paths carved in
Sleeping snow

Sara, no “h”
Unlike the rest
I pray
You understand
The privilege
The responsibility
Placed in your
Capable hands

You are so young
Unaware
What waits beyond
Open doors

I hope only
That the ephemeral nature of
These late night rendezvous
Is not lost on those searching eyes

So much can be obtained
So much can be lost
So quickly
The hours slip between
Hands soft and stained alike

    1. Your words and continued support mean so much, I cannot express. You are one of my greatest friends here on this platform, as well as a writer whose work I objectively take great joy in reading. Thank you for all of the support, motivation, and genuine inspiration that you provide. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Chris. Yes, there is a slight poignancy to the nature of love and loss, but at the same time, from that loss can come gifts of even greater value. Nothing is lost; only transformed. The beauty of the choices we are given is that we have some agency in the product of the transmutation. 🙂

  1. Tender. I especially enjoyed,
    “These relationships we build
    In the end
    Mean less
    Even still
    Than the possibilities they uncover.”
Growth yet seen. Perspective that comes with time.
    I am enjoying your work.
