I am always in a state of
Perceived rejection
Assumed alone
Assumed unwanted
Assuming
Welcome:
Overstayed
I walk with
Head down
Watching the earth
Move
Unfettered by
My feet upon its gracious surface
There is
Nowhere I belong
More so than
Where I do not
A consequence of
Years spent
Telling myself
In voiceless whispers
That I will never be
Enough
But
Even miles apart
You
Make me feel
Like I am someone
Like there are no
Assumptions
Expectations
I belong
With
To
You
Sublime ! ❤

“perceived rejection”…I used to feel that way… Walking with my head down just as you described. (fortunately that’s all past tense 😉). Nicely done!

Thank you, Dee. I try to keep this all in the past. It is hard sometimes.

It is for me too sometimes…But it’s getting easier!

I really relare to this. In fact family would like me to visit them in the UK but i am scared I would stay too long… and I expect the worst of relationships too….. I am so heartened that there may be someone there who helps you challenge that belief….<3

Thank you. I think I need to learn to challenge that belief on my own. In the end, we are responsible for ourselves; no one can make our choices for us.

True we need to believe we are worthy of love..I wonder why then you expressed what you did in this poem? No man is an island.

There can be others who help us to feel like we can belong, who can give us support. But in the end, I think we need to be the ones to accept ourselves.

Exactly because unless we believe we are worth pf that love or sense of belonging it wont be real or true for us.
