MJ(S)C

You were a girl
Made a woman
In all the wrong ways
Those with whom you danced
Unable to see
To match
Your beauty and your grace
Seeing only a pretty face

Now you see the world
Through a lens of pain
You aren’t sure you can be loved again
Not sure your heart is worth
The risk of love
And that must hurt
Beyond anything I could ever put to words

But just the same
As words fail here
They can succeed
They can replace
All those memories with new days
With shining new rays
Of a rising sun

So let me try…
I want to stand by your side
I want to be with you as the air is to the sky
Let me be the waves
In the ocean of your heart
Never to be apart
But never quite the same
Two different places, spaces
One harmonious name

I’ll give you all I have
All I am
My heart is yours
I want you on home turf
And foreign shores
I want to love you from the hairs on your head
Right down to your pores

Please let me be
The sandy beaches to your sparkling seas
The roots and branches to your towering trees
The joyful singing to your melodies
The salty crunches to your sugary sweets
I do believe
That I can be for you and you for me
Just give us a chance, I know you’ll see
I’ll never let you down, I’ll never leave
I’ll wait patiently
Whatever you need…
I’ll be here for you

    1. Why thank you. This piece contains a not- insignificant part of my heart, as all of my poems to various degrees. As such, I take your compliments personally and am very grateful for your reading and responding.

    1. There is most certainly a tie between those two concepts, and I am both saddened that you required healing in the first place, but also inspired that you were able to make the best of it and become the person you are now. 🙂
